After watching all the BS the parents, players, and coaches give the refs, they are not being paid nearly enough.
I agree. We have so many a-hole parents, that have no clue about the game, yelling and cursing at the refs and opponents. Embarrassing to me and my family. No need for this. That is not a good example of sportsmanship.
Bro, it’s the truth. One of my boys is a ref. Dude you won’t believe the crap people say.
Dude, for the most part, every ref I know has played high school, junior, college, even a couple semi pro. We know the game. We want to help the kids at all ages but the parents , coaches, and players disrespect us so much it is difficult . Worse part is they don’t know the rules or the game. They need to learn the rules or shut up, we have to follow the rules regardless of how ignorant they are.
Your ignorance does not surprise me.
So true! There's a way to work the refs during the game and be respectful at the same time. No need to fbomb every time you think they missed a call but sometimes you have to expect it from daddy coaches who aren't really coaches. Look at donatos goal the other night, ref was out of position and puck bounced off ref onto Donato's stick for goal. The coach for the Blues called the ref over and ref said my fault and they moved on...that's how you handle it!
We had a game 1st vs 2nd late in the season, game is tied late. Net gets knocked off pegs due to two players making contact, ref won't let coach make change. Bad call, but a judgment call that the coach overargued. Got a bench minor, and the ref STILL wouldn't let him make a change. Of course now the coach goes ballistic and gets a second bench minor. Coach needed to handle it better, but how can you give a penalty to a coach for arguing when the ref doesn't know the rule?
In that case the coach hurt his team.
Parents who yell at youth hockey refs are losers. No way around it. LOSERS.
To:8:28 AM poster: please learn how to read you moron. The poster did not say all the refs played pro..... he said most played high school, some juniors, some college, even some played semi pro. If you are going to make a stupid comment about a post, have somebody read the post for you. A big part of the problem is that the people commenting do not comprehend the rules.... and quite often the game either. Please silence your ignorance.
BS - they get paid enough. If they can't take some heat occasionally, then quit, or don't do it - go work at the grocery store.
Couple of examples - you can't have some 15 year old kid as a ref in a a game where to players start throwing haymakers at each other and the ref is so small he can't even get control of the situation - that's terrible.
Also, when you are missing the most BASIC calls such as icing and off-sides that leads to either a goal or just a bad play - you need to re think being a ref - period.
It is a job - and you have to do your job right - if you can't do it right, or feel as though you really don't have to - then go find something else to do.
No "my kid" doesn't come into play with haymakers - but nice projection ass hat. I stand by what I said, either do the job right or don't do it.
Most refs are like bad cops. Went into profession because they were tools and now want to abuse their power.
Obviously you wanted to be a cop but your fat ass could not make it by the fitness test. Sorry your fat ass got cut from being a cop.
