Re: Northstars

They should place themselves in the best tournaments, with the best Elite talent, that they can get into. The results will speak for themselves. It’s early in the season, so scores may be a little skewed now, but normally teams like this one are placed where they should be.

Re: Northstars

Team played in super series and did well. Also smoked every team so far except 1. That includes 5-1 win over PHC which beat the E9 champs (Rifles) in VJW tourney.

Team is easily top 5 elite team if they moved up.

Re: Northstars

They will never "move up". This is what holds back teams like shamrocks, vipers, northstars, Manch. Flames etc. from drawing in better players and becoming better teams. Nobody is developing kids any more. It's all about how to attract good players to your team and if your team isn't in the "elite" division, it will be difficult to compete against those "elite" teams when it comes to recruiting. If those teams were allowed to play in, the owners would be slicing their own throats and ruining the image they are trying to portray.

Re: Northstars

Perhaps some of you weren't around but there was an opportunity for the top Tier 1 teams to move into Elite a few years back. If I remember the structure, it was a bit insane. The top 1 or 2 Tier 1 teams at the end of the season played 3 games each against the upper half of the Elite division, at the Elite teams home rink and had to gain 5 points in 3 games to earn an elite spot. I think #1 Tier 1 played Elite 1, 3, and 6 of Elite, #2 played 2, 4 & 5 or some such nonsense. I don't believe a single team at any age level got more than 2 points total for their three games. My recollection of it might be a bit off in terms of structure but I do know that not a single Tier 1 team qualified to move up.

No matter what we think, the top EHF Elite teams are the best our area has to offer. Yes, there are occasional anomalies ('03 VJW a few years back were pretty dang good) and I'm sure the Northstars are a great team with a bunch of great kids but I sincerely doubt they would crack the top 4 of Fed Elite.

As has been stated, the guarantee of Elite status gives all of those teams a huge advantage in recruiting & marketing and they aren't going to give that up, nor should they it's bad for business.

Re: Northstars

Northstars are NOT that good to be even considered in the FED conversation.

Saw them in a tourney and they are a good team but not FED elite level, not even close

That said are they better than crappy Kings and Breakers? Absolutely but that's not saying much!

If your a team like this and you want to go "Elite" go to the E9/BHL. Only league that you can actually play into the Elite level. Top to bottom not as good as FED but top teams would be mid level in FED elite and could compete with the Terriers, Huskies, MF

Let's pump the brakes a little here. They've done a great job keeping their better players together; Same team the last few years, some nice players (JL and BK in particular).Too strong for most T1Blk team to compete with, though they did lose last year to a shaky BJT team and twice to a very mediocre (at best) IHC team. Could compete with bottom of 05 elite, but that's about it.

Re: Northstars

They were 40-0 2 years ago and got laid out by the mighty maxpro jets.

Ouch. They (the 05 T1 black team) just beat (last night) the Valley Jr. Warriors 05 Elite 8-1 in the East Coast Classic tournament in Worcester. Grist for the EHF/E9 debate!

Nice try...

05T1 Northstars are a good team but the 05E Warriors are terrible and not a good barometer. Warriors 05E would be the equivalent to BSB or SSK in the EHF Elite, maybe worse. No surprise here...

05 Warriors Elite decimated by injuries. 6 regulars out right now. Using select players to make a roster of 10. Check back in February.
