If you want to talk teams then fine, but bringing up kids' names at age 12 only sets you up to look bad in the future. Good luck to all of the kids that are still working on their game, it gets tougher at 13 and 14, and it doesn't help them to put their names/initials out there on a message board.

NHL (if a kid is good enough) has a September 15th cut off.

So a kid in this case born after that date is considered an 07 Draft class.

Someone like Brady Thachuk is an example of this and was drafted 2 overall.

I would say that a Late B Day is the best case scenario.

SMC definitely the top 06 in the area. Funny people don’t have a clue bc don’t know what else is out there and who is playing 05.

SMC is the one kid at this age group who ill go to the show.

My 06 has the best penmanship. He also stays in the lines while coloring at lunch between games.

I’m sure SMC has a great skill set. However, there are a multitude of 06 age kids who do. They play with and against each other. I would think a true gauge of any player’s skill set and ability can’t be determined until he/she competes against kids who have equal and maybe better ability. Think that’s true in any sport. Go see an 06! Eagles or Islanders game and watch some of those kids .

Dear 06 DADs,

My son is an 05 EHF Elite player and is in the 7th grade and he has a few other friends in same situation. He will playing with some of your 06s in high school. He will absolutely skate circles around your 06 legends. Year doesn't matter - only grade.

The dad makes a loud but good point and reminder. If hockey switches the cut off date every few years then the so called top players quickly change. There are january -february kids that have been constantly playing against younger kids. There are also back of the year birthday kids essentially playing up by 8-11 months. When january 1st goes away it is an entirely new ballgame.

My kid isn’t one of them either. Eagles /Islanders Playing in EHF Columbus Day Invite and wish each team the best. Very competitive weekend and proud they’re representing Mass hockey so well. I’m not envious ,
