Bigger news will be posted in January. With the NESV shutting down after the season, Lovell in final negotiates to buy them and merge Giants with them. To get the deal done Lovell fronted the cash for the long term contract. Wouldn’t surprise me if Hitmen also part of the deal. Rumor has it they will get auto bid to e9, especially with the Wizards headed to Fed next year.
Lovell also funding the upgrades at Raynham so Generals and the Full Season teams have their home rink. Giants FS teams just rebrand to New England Knights.

Good move.
Wow, did you make this all up or did you believe some idiot in the stands one day. Not one thing on this is true nor even close. NESV not closing. Hitmen wont ever sell to Saints. Lovell is not buying the program. No cash spent on Contract with WW. Wizards not going to Fed. come on man do some sort of research before you spew this garbage.
.............if he's selling then how is he going to rule the world?
Saints are being sold will be Jr Mounties.
RO long time booster for the Mount. Kid played there in the late 90's. Wants to be part of the new Mount. Its better than starting their own youth program again now that the . Just buy one with access to a league and use the Mount Prestige to draw in the youth Kids. Could be a huge blow to the PHC north teams. Kids who eventually want to play for Mount will start their journey there in the youth programs taking a good amount of talent way from the PHC.

Mount Prestige...yikes.
dont be an idiot. Mount has sent more players to the NHL than im sure most of your local Catholic schools. Now with the NHLers backing the program again it wont take long before they gain back their national recognition and the locals will eat it up.
The Saints are already a great organization and if this story is true they will work out all the ruff edges that already exist and take this club to the highest level with the Mount Pride stamp on it. Remember all programs in all sports go through expansion and contraction cycles. RI hockey is watered down with the business model first and foremost. When you mesh the hockey pedigree from both programs it can only get better. This is a train you want to ride the if you currently have a child in the hockey system.
I got news flash for you if this is true yes its good for saints as it will give some cred, but if any of them or you think their kid will ever play on the u16 and u19 teams the mount is starting you are sorely mistaken. The selects academy model they are using will recruit nationally and even internationally. It will also cost similar to prep as its full season extensive travel to play teams like belle tire etc. So anyone who thinks little rhody has talent to get on these teams you're dreaming. Its not gonna be your daddy and granddaddy's mount hockey.
Even better and if you are correct I have no problem with what you are saying. At the end of the day as long as I know I helped my kid do THE BEST that they can do then my mission is complete as a parent! Realistic and honest to myself and family. Having been affiliated with a great program even at a lower level is not a bad finish line! It’s a lot about how Hockey but it’s more about life!

Hey Saints cheerleader, that's is just funny, Saints a great organization? Hasn't been great for quite some time (10-15 years). Good move for Mount as they get access to a league. But if great is all teams in BHL American (minus 2) than you have a skewed sense of hockey. Look at the 09 select team playing Valley league (enjoy that ride for C level hockey),2008 selects disbanding, parents left scrambling to find teams to play for. Those Select teams were all added to pad the cost of selling it to Mount.
Saints are slimy and always have been. Glad to see them go away. PHC/95 Giants/SSK should be worried if Mount does it the right way. Cut all those clowns running the Saints now and they will be in good shape.
I get the business aspect but to say mount is going to use this as a feeder is crazy. The high school will take the best players they can get and a lot of those are in the EHF. Not BHL american. It is a good business idea if they use the connection to grow teams and make more money.
Does anyone know who is funding this enormous hockey expansion by the Mount. They have brought in two "name" coaches who were very well payed at Selects Academy, they are advertising a U14, U15, U16, U18 program as well as having high school teams. They are talking about new rinks and a dorm. All of this will require a large capital investment as well as substantial costs of operation. To attract some of the very top kids there will also need to be "financial aid" packages. This seems like a very big potential budget.
who the hell is the \"mount\"? Sounds like a problem some dogs have when the mailman comes by
Well its obvious you never played hockey in your lifetime...AV club or debate team would be my guess...
Or, maybe he didn't grow up in NE. Mount has been a non-factor locally for over a decade.
Lots of discussion around local HS teams and nicknames are lost on people that didn't grow up here. Some people actually do grow up to be successful and relocate for their careers or other reasons.

Alums Pops Alums and potentially corporate sponsors just like selects academy! On the alum side clearly both former NHLers and just ones who want to recapture the pride of what was at one time THE DOMINANT high school program in the US until the ISL and Jr programs started raiding their talent base, which was never just from RI by the way. Some of these people have money that we could only dream of. In addition, the tuition for ALL the players will never be fully covered they aren't at selects and they aren't at most ISL schools.
For some hockey families with really talented kids that also have money they will definitely shell out some of the cash to have their kid play full season at a real brick and mortar high school rather than play juniors which also has a cost hidden or otherwise and billet in nebraska or some other god awful space and take online classes.
Full season doesn't happen at ISL and many want to specialize. Not saying that's good or bad its the reality as they think it will increase their chances. Jr teams are an awful decision for those who do not get actual D1 rides which are few as the rest are left with basically a GED and playing beer league with the rest of us.
You will see more of this model coming to a struggling private school near you. I am sure CM will be watching this closely as they like MSC were once a very similar program
"THE DOMINANT high school program in the US..." Yeah, outside of about 50 better programs in MN, 12 in Wisconsin, 15 in Michigan, 8 in North Dakota they were THE DOMINANT high school program in the US.

Funding is easy. 48K by parents, NHL alums dumping money, Buying the youth program and then charging $4000 a kid when they own the ice and the rink is more than paid for. They are going to be rolling in money so that is not an problem.

Wow, you must be a first year parent with the organization. So many of you beleive the hype. Sorry your kid is now stuck in the crap zone because your ride is going to be longer from warwick or EG going to MSC 3 days a week. Enjoy paying for those "skill" session run by DB. PLus the hike in tuition because now they need to subsidize the older teams, and dont forget by the time your kid is a bantam he will be on the lowest level team or just cut because they are recruiting nationally for their real teams. Have a blast playing in the valley league until High school when its back to SRI for Bantams and Midgets.
Unless they build new rinks, the logistics of practice times gets crazy. U14, U15, U16, U18 should all practice 1 1/2 hour each day. Add in the regular high school varsity and JV teams. That leaves no ice time for any "program teams"
This is what New England hockey needed. High school hockey has been on life support not only in RI but throughout NE. Shame on the existing clubs for letting this happen. Go Mounties!
For all people not in the know, Lovell buying the Saints and merging into the Giants in Attleboro. Lovell also becoming part owner of NESV with new group of owners....
If this is true and that's a big IF, it could be a shot in the arm for RI hockey. Now lets get this out of the way first, This is not going to be some feeder program for Mount. It's clearly something that will help subsidize the recruits they intend to bring in from around the world apparently. I think on average the Saints charge $2400. I think that tuition would go up by at least $1000 and there probably wouldn't be any big changes so you would still be a nomad going from rink to rink with skills that are not good. With that being said I think parents will have Selects Academy on their minds when checking out this program and with the credibility of the coaches and administration at the top along with the money Mount has committed to this will probably draw some of the better kids in the area. PHC, 95 Giants, and the Kings would all take a hit. Current Saints kids Squirts and higher could potentially be cut. There will be a lot of crying from Saints parents on their elite teams.
If the Mount's program is as strong as the program at Selects Academy, and your kid is good enough to play there, you do not have to worry about comming "through the system". Only true elite players will play on these top teams. If they have the national and international draw that Selects Academy had, we are only talking about a few local players. It will be very interesting to see how this all plays out.

I just dont see this happening on the same scale as Selects Academy...45k - 50k to live in Woonsocket and play at that old rink...There are no current plans to build a new rink and that will hurt them...I hear the dorms will be on the fourth floor of the school for the time being...Unless they are giving a ton of financial aid to kids to come play for them, I think its going to be a tough sell...especially with ISL schools and programs in the general area (20-30 miles away)...
For the Mount situation (not sure how associates with Saints) but they won’t be able to do what they did with Selects. Legacy Global Sports owns them and controls the player database, which is huge, and growing, specifically the for the younger players.
Those coaches don’t have access to that anymore and Legacy on a strong recruiting push at SKS right now. Mounties will get the leftovers at best.
As far as dorms? They are actually at Johnson and Whales, not on campus. Dorms going to take 3+ years to approve and build, just like rink. Rink location will be in same spot so they are already planning to miss a full year having a home rink once they get funding. No player looking at ISLs, Shattucks, SKS or FS T1EHL going down this path....coaches who jumped ship from SKS didn’t think it through and have a very steep hill to climb to success.
Anything will be better than current state of Mount, but it will be many years before they will be considered a viable option for the best talent in country.
I agree, The MSC "campus / dorm " situation is not very inviting, especially when compared to other similiar programs such as South Kent, Shattuck, or Northwood. I am not sure why the coaches left Selects Academy at South Kent, but the Headmaster at South Kent also stepped down to a paid one year sebatical and the retirement.
