Haverhill Youth Sports

According to the news Haverhill has shut down all youth sports for the next 3 weeks.

Will this mandate include private enterprises like the Valley Warriors and their ability to host games at the Valley Forum or just the town youth sports?

Re: Haverhill Youth Sports

Maybe.

Re: Haverhill Youth Sports

Doesn’t affect the VJW. Towns have no jurisdiction over private enterprises. BOH could shutter the rink if they have cause but can’t stop teams from operating. And PG wouldn’t take that lying down.

I said this way back at the start. Town hockey is at far greater risk of shut-down than Club. Too many bureaucrats answering to other bureaucrats.

Re: Haverhill Youth Sports

The ruling affects sports involving Haverhill High School, other schools and private youth organizations.

From a 9/25 article in the Eagle Tribune:

"The mayor said there are several reasons for the recent spike in cases in Haverhill, including a large outbreak at one nursing home, which he did not name."

and

"Stop the Spread is a strategic testing program for Massachusetts communities that continue to have an increasing number of residents testing positive for COVID-19. The program supports testing asymptomatic (tested positive but show no symptoms) people in those communities to help stop the spread of the virus."

Due to a rise in positive cases from a nursing home outbreak and an increase in asymptomatic testing of people who may or may not remain infectious, the town is shutting down youth sports. No mention of increase hospitalizations or adverse impacts, just shut it down. It would be funny were it not so **** punitive to young people. We have no idea of the false positive rate due to the sensitivity of PCR tests, but politicians are going to order lockdowns on healthy people nonetheless. Tar, feathers, all of it.

And further:

Not good ...

"Veteran's Memorial Ice Rink behind the high school and the Haverhill Valley Forum rink are allowed to remain open, though youth sports programs such as ice hockey that account for much of the activity at the rinks must halt for the next three weeks due to the Board of Health order, officials said."

Hockey halted for three weeks applies to Town of HAVERHILL youth teams not all youth teams. Slow your roll, clown.

Re: Haverhill Youth Sports

Received notice today that Valley Forum rinks will remain open for games, but ALL spectators will be barred for games above Mites age level,

From Eagle Tribune.....not that they are the end all of accurate info

Re: Haverhill Youth Sports

This applies only to town programs, for now.

Re: Haverhill Youth Sports

More ice time for the clubs?

Yup. Been saying it for a while. Let MA keep their silly game rules, and book the ice all the NH town teams leave behind when everyone does what Haverhill just did to "keep our kids safe."
