Answer this. What % of players should be considered elite? The only “Elite” league is EHF. E9 has a few elite teams per year so let’s be real and say that only 12-13 truly elite teams exist in New England. So my opinion yes the EHL Elite should keep the title “Elite” and the E9 could possibly be considered “Elite”. No other league in New England should be able to
label their league as elite. Problem solved.
elite (according to oxford): a select group that is superior in terms of ability or qualities to the rest of a group or society.

Tough to put % on it but it is somewhere around 1%. New England has about 28,000 youth hockey players.

1% of 28000 is 280.

Approx 280 elite players in New England.

280 total elite players /15 players per team = 17 elite teams.

Sorry So Tired. The kid is spot on with the EHF and maybe 1/3 of E9 being elite.

Now all 3 of us are tool bags. Enjoy the fish today.

So 280 kids total, of all youth hockey players....are you considering birth year?
The question really is which programs are actually elite and at which birth year
You guys are insane. No 280 kids in New England are not elite. Elite is NHL caliber players and that would be about 280 kids per birth year worldwide who get drafted. So maybe 5 or so in New England are "ELITE". If you want to water it down and create some sort of super elite youth teams you can get one line on one team thats legit elite. Thats the reality of it. But keep carrying on thinking you can have 10 ELITE teams...
Wait a second. Your defining elite as NHL caliber????? That’s fine but by your standards about .00001 youth players are NHL caliber.

I’m not sold that a program can be elite. Geographic location has more to do with program success than some magic button that parents believe certain programs have.

This is all sounding like the old 'Metro League' before the parents all got engaged in this skating, skills, hockey arms race and the owners all took it in and offered more, more, more until their bank accounts were stuffed.

And remember many kids who aren't 'élite' at 12 will be at 17. They need somewhere to improve.
