Re: Wizards vs Assabet

Went to their tryouts recently, wizards appears to be a lot more popular than assabet. Is wizards better for development, or it is just that it has a better reputation and does better in recruitment and winning championships.
Wizards like eagles. They don’t develop players they attract them. Assabet develops players but is tainted because of the Globe articles and the culture that went on there. Assabet is doing a lot to turn the program around. High caliber director. Just hired a quality skills coach vs. no skills at all this year at wizards from what I hear. Before that they were run by whatever Dad can make it lol. Assabet will be back and wizards will always be strong. Only so many places to play elite hockey for girls. 6-7 teams. Demand is greater than supply.
“Tainted” by Globe articles? Are you sure it’s not “tainted” by abusive coaches, perverted program director, peeing in front of girls, screaming at everyone, nazi salutes, racist behavior, no moral high ground, retribution, porn habits, culture of silence, etc, etc etc.

But sure, it was the “Globe”. Let me guess, this is one of the new coaches or her father acting like nothing happened?

And Carl still owns the program.... so yes, let’s support a program that stands for all of that.

Also, the Wizards get an automatic berth in the girls national tournament.

I have a relative and his daughter plays tier 1 hockey in Michigan for LC. All the way out there they call Assabet the "militant robot club". The program does not have a good reputation any more. I know they are trying to change it and they do have some good coaches and skills guy. As someone mentioned already. As long as they let the pervert sit in the stands looking over his kingdom the image will not change. Wizards hands down.

Re: Wizards vs Assabet

As a former parent, that place is an embarrassment. Carl has been abusing people for decades and no one stood up to him. Well, until last year.

Re: Wizards vs Assabet

Assabet records....NEGHL National Division (top level)

U19. Could not field a team.
U16. 0-5-2 last place.
U14. 3-5-2 4th place.
U12. 8-5-6 4th place.

Current roster D1 college commits:
Assabet zero
Wizards at least 7
Eagles at least 10
Breakers at least 4

But sure, they are building. Be smart send your kid to Hogwarts.

This shows me you have no clue what you are talking about. But I agree with you on Assabet...

Feel free to look up any of the numbers when the rosters come out for next year. I might be off a kid or two. Hogwarts is the better option than Assabet. Then again, anyone is a better option than Assabet.

There are two things for a parent to research. College exposure or fun. If you want college exposure, then you probably need to be on competitive U16 or U19 teams. If you don’t have a competitive team in your program, then you will likely be moving at some point. You have no kids at skills pushing the envelope, or just walking around as role models for the younger kids.

The other item is fun. And that is not Assabet. The old man is always going to be lurking around the place. The Wizards are a money machine and have loads of teams, so your daughter will play somewhere.

Exposure: Eagles, wizards, breakers kids get the approximate same exposure that counts - Beantown, NAHA & Wizards holiday and National tournaments. Assabet right now will get the exposure but as/if teams continue to deteriorate they will not get the automatic berths anymore. The current U19 teams have more commitments than what you have listed.
