Makes no difference. Still assigning ratings and sorting top to bottom. So now instead if seeing Little Johnny’s team is ranked 21st, Big Johnny will need to count down the list. Hope he can count that high.
The farther your kid travels the better they are.... PROVEN FACT! 9 out of 10 dance moms agree! Now I know this won't solve all of the issues we've beaten into our players heads about the "quality of competition", but at least now, hopefully, these kids can just play hockey for the love of the game and grow as players. enough of this fake a$& ranking and arguing between EHF and BHL. both leagues have plenty of families willing to buy their kid a spot on the team he or she wants.
The rankings are not overrated. They were amazingly accurate for playing teams with no common opponents at tournaments or mon league games year after year. There are 2 distinct camps- the people who just look at the rankings to see where their kids team is- and the people who use it for scheduling purposes. If any of you actually went outside of 495 you'd know scheduling competitive games is not easy.
Agreed that the rankings are incredibly accurate all things considered. They also incentivize teams to travel long distances to play other teams with certain rankings as a means of maintaining or improving their own ranking. Many won't even step on the ice with other teams close to home in fear of their ranking being damaged.
Why do you travel "outside of 495"?
Were are talking about squirts right? You are delusional if you are worried about finding like opponents outside of 495, outside of your fed schedule.
We think too much in the NE bubble. Teams outside of NE do not have competitive leagues the way we have in the Fed. They have to travel so knowing that the comp will be level is important. That is why they developed MyHockey in the first place. It will still do that because the ratings will remain. The inly difference is that everyone will need to assign their own number by sorting the ratings. If not for MyHockey tourneys would be a crapfest of 15-1 games and look a lot like spring tourneys with a huge talent spread top to bottom. Playing noncompetitive games has no benefit for either side.
