Re: 2014 birth year

Funny, I'm hearing the coaches at this level are absurd. Don't get me wrong, I know these guys are solid hockey minds. But running power plays at the might level is a joke. These guys are signing up for tournament's and bringing in alternate's just to win. I'm talking about out of state players traveling just so coach can feed his ego. How about the Americans coach not signing his team up for any tourneys so his kid can play for fed teams. Good luck with this group.
Ha. I know exactly who you're talking about.

I think it was already discussed on the 'exposure joke' thread that flying in alternates at the '14 level is ridiculous and unfair to pretty much everyone. I guess they're giving those alternates from other states a chance to play good hockey if you look at it one way, but it's unfair to the teams from here who showed up with their own team. It's allowed though.

Why doesn't the American's coach just have his kid play for a fed team then? BA still beat the EHF team his kid was an alternate for..and BA beats his E9 American team every time as well.

Some of the 2014 parents are nuts for sure. But this is nothing new in the hockey world. There are nutty parents in every birth year.

Guy lives 5 minutes from hockeytown and gets to coach all 3 of his boys there(with other great coaches) with the Americans. Any sane person would prioritize that over chasing the fed elite tag with one of his boys. Great guy and great family. His middle one is national elite jr bruins, and could punch his ticket on any fed elite team. There's nothing wrong with him hopping in a high level TOURNAMENT for a few games.

I've never heard anyone say anything but great things about him, but here we are...

I haven't heard anything bad about him either but it did seem questionable that he had his kid play as an alternate and now someone is saying he isn't helping to progress the Americans team he coaches. I'm guessing the Americans couldn't get into this tournament otherwise they would have been there? His kid is better than many fed 'elite' players by far.

I think they've only lost to BA in the e9. They seem to move the puck well and it's definitely not just one or two kids going end to end all game.

Re: 2014 birth year

Not sure about the talent. Have they even played any of the top teams yet? Definitely the craziest group of parents in a while. Sounds like we should be getting the 2014's autographs now because a lot of them will be in the nhl .

what top teams are you referring to? Many of them play on Jr bruins where they play kids from all over the country and Canada. So yeah, they have. Wow.

Re: 2014 birth year

I have noticed a few of the 2014 parents have parent managed IG accounts for these kids. I'm not sure why the need for this other than attention and to be told how great the kid is. Some of the parents do need to settle down. The kids are 8, a LOT can happen. But there's no doubt that some of the kids from this birth year are very good.

Re: 2014 birth year

As a parent that has gone through it and is in the middle of going through it with a younger son I love watching mite parents make fools of themselves. Traveling the country to play diaper hockey and bragging about how great their kids are. News flash - NONE OF THIS MATTERS!!!! We’ll see how your kid looks at 13/14/15 and again at 16/17/18. All you 2014 psychos should take a good look around the locker room this weekend and know that some kids in that room might not even be playing hockey in a few yrs and the kid that just skates faster than everyone is going to get caught by some of the slower kids and passed by them.

Some people like to live in the moment and celebrate what the kids are doing NOW. If they didn't they'd be called uninvolved parents. Why would other parents 'bragging' about their kids doing well at something bother you so much? That's typically a sign of jealousy.

If a kid is good at math or science that's something parents should and often do try nurture and put the kid in the best direction. I see many parents bragging about kids grades on social media who are young. Should the thought be, oh who gives a **** they might end up getting D's in high school? lol.

Sure, maybe some of the faster skaters will get caught by slower kids someday. Maybe not. Is there a particularly fast 8 year old you're bothered by? Sounds like it. Personally if a kid is slowish at 8 I'm not sure why they'd get much faster as they get bigger...that's just science.

Re: 2014 birth year

Everything you just said is dumb. 8 year old hockey- who is the fastest kid on the ice- who is the most aggressive. Having gone through this already. I watched excellent mites become irrelevant by peewee major and 100% by bantams. This elite tag is a joke. Very few players are actually elite. You mentioned science? Its called genetics and puberty.

Oh name calling?

We are all aware that things do change in puberty. Some kids might get bulky and bug and then they definitely won't be fast.

This thread has certainly brought out some ugliness about 8 year olds. Why don't you find a dance mom's forum and tell them someday their kids will suck?

Re: 2014 birth year

They have not played the top teams. You don’t even know who the top teams are at mites especially in Canada and Minnesota. Mid-Fairfield plays cross ice until squirts. .You will see next year .

Are you tracking what all 2014s are doing? Some of these kids have played against competitive teams from Canada along with teams like International stars. They've played against and with some top 2014 kids from all over. You don't know what you're talking about unless you're literally a stalker.

Re: 2014 birth year

Not tracking any 2014. I am a parent that has been through the whole thing and played junior bruins . Wow you played the international stars? Never heard of them. Just because you traveled to tournaments doesn’t mean you played the best kids and teams. The 2014’s might be really good but you have not played the best . Just wait until the next few summers.

well you might want to do some research then for this particular birth year. I'm guessing the parents of a 2014 might know a bit more what's happening than you do.

Re: 2014 birth year

Sounds like these 2014 kids are lucky to have such involved parents. As long as they are enjoying hockey what is the problem?

Re: 2014 birth year

You are the 1st group of parents that have done this and your kids are better than all the kids that played before them. Can’t wait to see you win the Brick in a few years.

OMG are you serious? "Top kids from all over"?

They are 8 years old. The "top kids" from all over are just the ones that don't fall down every shift on the ice. It's MITE HOCKEY - it means nothing yet

My son reffed mites for 2 years and it was painful to listen to you clowns yell and scream every time a kid FELL DOWN cause he didn't call tripping.

I am not surprised posts like this exist - you people are nuts. 8 years old!!! There are no "TOP KIDS" yet

If they can't even tie their skates by themselves yet, it doesn't matter how good they are. It's WAY too young to tell

There's an "exposure cup" for 8 year olds?? OMFG

Clueless people if you think it matters yet

From watching these kids it looks like the 2014 birth year is the best group in the last 10 years. They have to be one of the favorites to win the Brick in two years.
They are 8...

Re: 2014 birth year

Some kids are just gifted when it comes to speed and endurance. It's not something everyone has, same way with running. Obviously hockey isn't just about speed and endurance but it plays a big role.

From what I hear, almost every parent on every team is watching or chiming in here. Is this normal for mite major???

Re: 2014 birth year

Talking about how good a kid is at hockey before he’s out of pull-ups is serial killer behavior. Carry on dahmer!

yeah no it's not. Geez, I guess parents just can't be happy for their kids anymore. Or at least not let anyone else know about it because it will offend others.

Re: 2014 birth year

I think telling people on an unsolicited basis about how great your kid is has generally been frowned upon through time

Re: 2014 birth year

and who is doing that? Do you know parents of the 2014 hockey kids this post is referring to who do that ?

Seems to me that someone made a post about the 2014 birth year being a strong year with some great players and people got nasty. If the post bothered you move on. If you think it's stupid and 2014 means nothing to you move on. I am surprised by how much controversy this simple post created. Really says a lot about the hockey community in the MA area. Pretty sad.

Re: 2014 birth year

This has to be a mom. I mean no dad with a set of balls is posting clips non stop on social media looking for likes and running to the dboard talking about how great his mite is at hockey.

Re: 2014 birth year

The dads are the worst.

Re: 2014 birth year

It's totally the dads who played back in the day and want the kids to be everything they weren't. Happens with things beyond hockey as well.

Anyone I know who has a kid who plays hockey posts pictures of them online every freakin weekend even if they stink. Hockey is a cult.

Re: 2014 birth year

Funny I have 2 kids playing and the only ones that post anything are the insane moms. You know the ones that go on vacation and post those family pics that are perfect where everyone has a forced smile because the previous 20 min were a complete nightmare with her trying to get the “perfect picture”.

I'm not sure what that has to do with anything? Are you assuming that hockey moms you see posting on FB are posting here? Social media is all for show...this is an anonymous forum not facebook. But yea lots of people try to make their lives look perfect on social. Posting a picture from a hockey game doesn't = a perfect life.

Re: 2014 birth year

Guys guys it’s totally normal to post a hockey video of your kids skills/practice/games every time he’s in the rink. What would I do without plastering it all over the internet and getting all the likes and comments? I don’t think I could survive!!!

Do you think the OP here was a parent? Or someone who’s been independently scouting 2014s - maybe for a DI college or NHL team - and decided to come share his findings with the DBoard?

Butthurt much? Must be a serial social media poster. Make sure you wake little Timmy up at 5am and get him out of his pull up and into his equipment so you can post a sick video on IG.
