Re: Next Year

Anon
Very rare - kid on our team got cut after all tryouts over. Even was invited to the new team skate. Kid was better many others too, well liked, always showed up etc. It was pretty ****ty, and I have c looked at my coach the same after that. Never any indication to the family. Coach was waiting on someone else to decide or be told he had no better options. Always go to other tryouts if your player is on the bubble.
That is messed up.

How many kids are you allowed to have a on a team?

Re: Next Year

I wouldn’t say worried but it’s probably an indication that your child
Isn’t good enough to
Be on the team. At this point it’s been about a year and you and the coach should know exactly where
Your kid stands if you’re being a realist.

Re: Next Year

If you havent had a conversation yet I would be concerned. The reality is most parents if they are honest with themselves know whos got a spot and whos on the bubble and whos out. My sons coach started telling us in mid December that they want him next season. The longer you wait and dont know the better chance you have of getting shut out the doors close quick. And dont believe waiting for tryouts the teams are all filled long before that day comes

Good Luck

Re: Next Year

My kid is one of the few first year players on a peewee team. He doesn’t get a lot of playing time this year, but he plays well when he does. Coaches haven’t said anything. I assume he has a spot next year as he’d be one of a few returners. Is this presumptuous given no one has reached out?

I don’t understand what you mean?

Re: Next Year

Kid is playing on a 2010/2011 team which is mostly 2010s, but my kid is one of a few 2011s on the team. Should I be worried that coach hasn’t said anything about next year yet?

No, not at all as the only 2 year pewee teams are town or PHL

Re: Next Year

Not where we live - it is the best team in our state; they combine age groups but typically only take a couple first years; however, only one of the first years (coach’s kid) got good playing time this year. I have no idea where we stand with this club.

Then you’re in good shape if they took you as a first year. Give it a couple weeks
