I am a new Mom to a older baby male electus. He is going on 8 months old. I haven't brought him home yet, but I plan on it any day now. I first saw him when he was 4 months old. I was visiting the lady that I have purchased my other birds from one day and I went there trying to decide between a large macaw and a mini macaw, so she says to me. Have you ever thought about a electus and I say no. She first lets me handle a Adult male and then my baby. The baby starts kissing me and would not stop. I left the store still undecided, only to return day after day, and every day that I went back that little electus was like a magnet whenever he saw me. I fell in love with him and his gentle nature. My last purchase before him was an African Grey which was and still is my baby, he is a year and a half old and spoiled rotten loved to death, but 2 days after I was introduced to the baby electus I decided to buy him, and told the lady that I already loved him as much as my Grey, and I have had him since before he had feathers. I read about your loss and I am very sorry.I was wondering if you could tell at about what age your electus starting talking? My grey was over 1 year when he started to talk. I visit with my electus every day/every other day and he is not talking yet.

I have a male Eclectus too and listeneing to Kilian's voice is so funny - my Tucker says practically all of the same things but in a little different voice of course! It is amazing the similiarities though!

Its so sad that you lost Mugsy in such a short time.I also have s Male Eclectus named Kiki.He is a rescue---an unwanted parrot left in a closed garden center.Given food and water once a week.He's only 2 years old.So young to go through such trauma.He plucked out all his feathers but now the feathers are coming back in.He's such a large part of my life since I adopted him.I can't imagine being without him.I've only had him since May.I love him to pieces--My beautifull "Green Guy".

I looked after a Grey about 10 years ago and decided that once I got settled in my life I would love to own one of my own.I called into a local petshop the other day and fell immediately in love with a 5month old Eclectus. I'm just trying to find out as much as possible before deciding to move ahead and become a brand new mum to this li'l fella. He is rather handsome like!

Your story on Mugsy broke my heart. I also have a male eclectus. His name is Simon and he is very laid back. He's almost 2 but he is quite opposite of Mugsy. He's quiet until I'm not in the room and he's cautious of who he "steps up to". He does love to eat though. Anyway, I wanted to let you know your courage to do the write up on Mugsy was amazing. Simon means the world to me and I don't even know if I could ever do what you did. Thanks for sharing your story.
