I am a Stamp collector and have recently come across a Penny Red stamp with a postmark reading \'SHIERE\' I am interested to know whether this was an error or was there an alternative spelling in Victorian times, the stamp was dated as 1878? |

My Gt Gt Grandmother lived in Shere. A bit of a character had three sons ( one being my Gt Grandfather) with all different men. Finally got married but not to any of the fathers. Her maiden was Freelove. |

A friend told me about the village, and as an artist I am really fond of places like this. So I will definitely have to visit it sometime. Planning on doing a little trip soon and visit this too! |

Fond memories of Shere from a visit in the spring of 1972. Did brass rubbings in the church and had tea and scones in a tea house. The river, the ducks...beautiful village! I sometimes search for pictures of Shere and England. |

I grew up in Shere, where I lived with my parents, Colin and Heather Cherry and sister Anna at Tillingbrook, Rectory Lane from 1957-1975. Many happy memories of our childhood and beautiful house and garden. |

Splendidly informative website: I love Shere, a quintessially English village on my doorstep and visit often. My grandson, who lives in London, and I play poohsticks on the little bridge, feed the ducks and always enjoy an ice cream and if the weather\'s perfect we bring a picnic too. |
