CB was a passing fad during my early teen years. In 11th grade I passed my Advanced Class Ham License and sold my CB gear. I still keep up with 1 or 2 of my CB friends from back in the day and both of them are also Ham Operators. P.S. My CLR II antenna took a direct lightning strike. I was not on the air at the time. |

Started in high Schoolwhen for Christmas 1973 my parents gave me a Lafayette Micro-723 in my bedroom, connected to a Lafayette Range Boost 3.75db gain omni antenna. Moved up to a Cobra mobile SSB radio then got a brand new Yaesu FT-101E with the RF speech processor. That radio was the best!Upgraded the chimney antenna tp an Antenna Specialists Super Scanner switchable beam/omni. |
